Volcanoes National Park

Northwestern Rwanda, bordering Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Established in 1925, Volcanoes is Africa's oldest national park and is famous for its mountain gorillas and volcanic landscapes. The best time to visit is June-September, December-February. By road: 2-3 hours from Kigali.

The park features volcanic mountains, bamboo forests, and alpine meadows. Wildlife includes mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and over 200 bird species. The main activity is gorilla trekking, with guided treks to see mountain gorillas. Points of interest include Karisimbi Volcano and Dian Fossey Tomb. The park is also known for its stunning landscapes and rich biodiversity.
