Serengeti
Northern Tanzania, bordering Kenya. Established in 1951, Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park, famed for its annual migration and endless plains. The best time to visit is June-October (Migration), January-February (Calving). By road: 8 hours from Arusha. By air: Several airstrips in the park.
Wildlife, Safari & Points of Interest
The park features vast grasslands, savannah, and rocky outcrops (kopjes). Wildlife includes wildebeest, zebras, lions, cheetahs, elephants, and more. Game drives are best for migration and predator sightings. Points of interest include Seronera Valley and Grumeti River. The park is also known for its rich Maasai culture and archaeological sites.
