Rwenzori Mountains National Park

Western Uganda, along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Rwenzori was established in 1991 and is known for its stunning mountain landscapes and glaciers. The best time to visit is June-August, December-February. By road: 6-7 hours from Kampala. By air: Kasese airstrip.

The park features snow-capped peaks, glaciers, alpine meadows, and montane forest. Wildlife includes monkeys, chameleons, and over 200 bird species. The main activity is mountain climbing, with guided treks to Margherita Peak and other summits. Points of interest include Margherita Peak, Bujuku Valley, and Lake Mahoma. The park is also known for its unique flora and fauna.
