Nyungwe Forest National Park

Southwestern Rwanda, near Lake Kivu. Established in 2004, Nyungwe is one of Africa’s oldest rainforests and is known for its biodiversity and canopy walkways. The best time to visit is June-September, December-February. By road: 5-6 hours from Kigali.

The park features montane rainforest, swamps, and grasslands. Wildlife includes chimpanzees, monkeys, and over 300 bird species. The main activity is the canopy walk, with suspended walkways through the forest. Points of interest include Canopy Walkway and Uwinka Overlook. The park is also known for its rich cultural heritage and conservation efforts.
