Northern Tanzania, west of Arusha. The Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world's largest intact volcanic caldera, often called the 8th wonder of the world. The best time to visit is June-October, December-March. By road: 3 hours from Arusha. By air: Lake Manyara airstrip.

Wildlife, Safari & Points of Interest

The crater features grasslands, forests, and lakes within steep walls. Wildlife includes lions, elephants, rhinos, hippos, and flamingos. Game drives are excellent for Big Five sightings. Points of interest include Ngorongoro Crater and Olduvai Gorge. The area is also known for its rich archaeological sites and Maasai culture.
