Murchison Falls National Park

Northwestern Uganda, along the Nile River. Established in 1952, Murchison Falls is Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area, famous for the powerful waterfall where the Nile explodes through a narrow gorge. The best time to visit is December-February, June-September. By road: 5-6 hours from Kampala. By air: Pakuba, Bugungu, and Chobe airstrips.

The park features savannah, woodland, riverine forest, and the Nile River. Wildlife includes elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, crocodiles, and over 450 bird species. Game drives are excellent for wildlife viewing, and boat cruises are available to the base of the falls. Points of interest include Murchison Falls, Nile Delta, and Paraa. The park is also known for its rich history and archaeological sites.
