Northern Tanzania, along the base of the Rift Valley escarpment. Established in 1960, Lake Manyara is known for its scenic beauty and tree-climbing lions. Ernest Hemingway called it 'the loveliest I had seen in Africa.' The best time to visit is June-October, December-February. By road: 2 hours from Arusha. By air: Lake Manyara airstrip.

The park features groundwater forests, acacia woodlands, and the alkaline Lake Manyara. Wildlife includes elephants, hippos, giraffes, flamingos, and tree-climbing lions. Game drives are best for bird watching and lion sightings. Points of interest include Lake Manyara, Hot Springs, and Rift Valley Escarpment. The park is also known for its rich cultural heritage and conservation efforts.
