Lake Manyara National Park
Northern Tanzania, along the base of the Rift Valley escarpment. Established in 1960, Lake Manyara is known for its scenic beauty and tree-climbing lions. Ernest Hemingway called it 'the loveliest I had seen in Africa.' The best time to visit is June-October, December-February. By road: 2 hours from Arusha. By air: Lake Manyara airstrip.
