Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Southwestern Uganda, on the edge of the Rift Valley. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bwindi was established in 1991 and is famous for its population of mountain gorillas and ancient rainforest. The best time to visit is June-August, December-February. By road: 8-10 hours from Kampala. By air: Kihihi or Kisoro airstrips.

The park features rugged, mist-covered hills and dense rainforest. Wildlife includes mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, monkeys, and over 350 bird species. The main activity is gorilla trekking, with guided treks to see mountain gorillas. Points of interest include Buhoma, Nkuringo, Rushaga, and Ruhija. Bwindi is also known for its stunning waterfalls and rich biodiversity.
